Story behind Bonita Roza
My name is Celene, and my journey into beauty began long before I ever stepped into a salon.
At just 10 years old, I was already fascinated with hair. Every morning before school, I would create a new hairstyle for myself. Some of my teachers would ask if I was going to a party, but no, it was my simple way of expressing my creativity.
I remember when I was in high school, my mom would give me lunch money, but instead of spending it on food, I would save it until I had enough to visit the local beauty salon to purchase products. Even as a teenager, I valued quality—sometimes that meant a granola bar for lunch, but to me it was worth it.
After high school, I followed my creative passion and enrolled in beauty school. I loved every moment of learning the art and science of hairstyling. What started as childhood creativity grew into a career that I have now been blessed to practice for 15 years.
But there was a moment that completely changed my perspective.
I remember the day I received my cosmetology license and excitedly visited a professional beauty supply store. As I approached the entrance, I noticed a sign that warned professionals that the products inside could contain chemicals known to cause cancer and birth defects. I felt a deep shock in my stomach. I had assumed that if professionals were allowed to work with these products every day, they must be safe.
To my disappointment, that isn’t always the case.
As someone who has always been passionate about health and wellness, I felt a profound misalignment between my values and the reality of many products used in the beauty industry. I realized that many beauty professionals and clients are exposed to harsh chemicals without even realizing it.
That moment planted a seed in my heart.
I began dreaming of a different kind of beauty—one that works in harmony with nature rather than against it. Beauty created with intention. Beauty that respects our health, our planet, and future generations.
That vision is what inspired Bonita Roza
My hope is that Bonita Roza inspires both clients and beauty professionals.
